Default The joys of upgrades

So I put a TBSS intake on the truck and now on to getting it tuned properly. Runs and idles fine drives ok although there are still some issues to work out, specifically that it is too slow to return to idle on decel. I haven't got to work on the tuning much yet so hopefully I will figure it out soon.

I expected all those issues now on to the joy part or lack of. Now all of the sudden I have a loud squeal above about 900 rpm. At first I though it was the belt squealing, but now I'm leaning towards the alternator. As I was trying to figure it out I noticed my lights start flickering while at idle. Stupid alternator is only about 2 months old and I think it may have a bearing squealing. Just my luck I'll have to check it out better tomorrow after work. At least it is under warranty if it turns out to be the alt. Just frustrating that nothing I do can ever be easy.

Oh ya and I've noticed the metal on my hood inside around the latch bar is rusted pretty badly. Guess I'll be on the look out for a good deal on a used hood too.

At least your upgrading by choice. I broke 3 teeth off my 4.11's. Moving up to 4.30's

Congrats on the new intake tho.

That sucks. How did you manage that?

I really couldn't tell you yet. I've only driven it once so far with one WOT run and it's not tuned in properly yet.

I think it may have been shifting too hard at wot. Sometimes if it's just right it'll shift HARD. on stock pressure.
has been slightly clanking for a lil over a week so I picked up some u-joints. Went to the zoo saturday and it was clanking BAD. Drove to tylers on Sunday and it was clanking REALLY BAD. pulled the cover off and it looked like a meth addict.

It sounds like you have an air leak.

I thought of that last night and remembered I didn't torque the manifold down like I was suppose to. So I grabbed the torque wrench and got that taken care of, but didn't have time to to drive it again since I was busy trying to figure out the squeal. I hope it's just the alternator since it's under warranty. It sounds like a bad bearing. It was dark and I was irritated and tired of messing with it last night, so I'll have to check it over better after work today if it's not raining.
