Yes but, The salesman needs to make money, the sales manager needs to make money, the dealer needs a profit, the mechanic that did the pre-delivery inspection, the advertising cost needs to be absorbed, the guy in the back of the dealership that detailed it needs to be paid, you have to pay the shipping and handling (destination), tax man wants a cut, youll have to pay for the 'free tank of gas' that comes with it.
In other words the only way you will ever get one for that price is if you become a dealer, and right now its something like half a million to become a dealer so its cheaper just to pay a little mark up.
and dont forget the extended warranty, floor mats, paint protection, extended service contract, life insurance, GAP protection, anti-theft system, anti-theft body panel serial numbering, lo-jack, on-star, and the newest and greatest XM radio.

I'm not knocking dealers, I know They have to support the Business they run. After buying 5 vehicles from dealers, I think I'm aware of the process.
The rebates out now are showing 36800 and a lower for the SS, down fom the 40875. Delivery, Setup, xm, on star etc included. In this area they'll prolly sell but it has been sitting there two months now. I think a loaded LT Z71 is under 33 with the rebates.

I think what's more important to the owner is how many cars/trucks they move in a certain period of time (a month for example). I know the owner of a GMC dealership here in Cali, and he has given me more than 5 trucks (one for me, bro, sis, buddy, etc) at the price he got it from the GMC factory+$100...i.e. I got a deal that the salesmen don't even get.
