Dell, Toshiba, or HP. They have many labtops under 800 with 17" screens.

I love my Toshiba, but my advice is not to get a huge screen like mentioned above. I have a 15.4" and it's a little large for logging data. The 14.X" screens (widescreen) out now are plenty for laptop usage and easier to maneuver in a vehicle when logging data.

I agree, if your going to use it a lot for loging, get a smaller screen. Its easer to pack around and the battery last longer. I got a Dell Inspiron E1505 ($1200, but I got some extras) a couple of months ago, and I LOVE it, but it has the 15.4 screen and feels a little big in the truck. We just bought my mom a E1405 ($800) which is almost the same thing, only with the 14 inch screen and I like it a lot better for in the truck, plus her battery will last about 1-2 hours longer then mine.

I got my toshiba from wal-mart for like $768 plus my fiance's 10% discount. I love it. I've had it since april. My hard drive crashed because of a nasty virus(my guess). I sent it to them, they paid shipping both ways and replaced the hard drive free of charge. Pretty good IMO. I could've got the one KBRacing has (Dell E1505) with a discount from the company I work for for $750. Didn't know that though til a couple months ago

i ended up getting a gateway MX6956 160gb hard drive, 15.4" widescreen, 4 usb ports, 533 mhz, 1.6ghz. The total ended up being $950 tax and all. They had a few that were cheaper but i need the memory for music, pictures, etc. This will be my home pc when i get a house here shortly so i figured i shouldnt skimp out and get a good one with a lot of memory.
