Does it have a 14-bolt rear end? I can't remember if GM is putting 14-bolts in the Vortec Max trucks or just the SS trucks.

ps. Looks gooooood.

Yes. The 14 bolt semi floater with 9.5" ring gear is part of the Vortec MAX performance package. It is basically the same axle that was used in the early 90's in the 454SS trucks.

That's a big part of why there's one in my garage I've seen several of the 10 bolts lose their spider gears and self implode. Although that is usually after more than 100K miles. I just wanted something tougher.

My 06 1500 CC 3LT Vmax 2WD sticker is $36,580, I get a GM Supplier Discount so that brings the cost down to $33,679.38 currently GM is offering $2500 cash rebate so I will apply that as well to my truck for a total of $31,179.38 + tag, tax, I am looking at about $33.5k out the door.

I am keeping my fingers crossed that GM will build mine, and it will be shipped pretty quick. I hate having to wait for my new toy

I put about 40+ miles on it yesterday, damn I love this truck!!!

My 4.5 year old son, just loves it too, maybe more than me. He just sits back in his booster seat just chillin' with a big smile on his face! Makes me feel good.

First mod will be Remote start for sure, then either, 2-4" drop or spray in liner and/or Undercover.

What drop kits do you guys recommend? I don't want to go the cheap route, I want to do it the right way. I'm now thinking , a 3" drop in the front and a 4" drop in the rear, unless it settles more over the next month or so.

As for price, I got one hell of a deal. I was going to get a Colorado Sport Crew Cab, but with all the GM incentives/rebates, it only cost me about $2000 more for the Silverado.

After all the rebates, discounts and incentives, I paid $27,094 Out the door (I had $2,972 in GM Card earnings )
