It is expensive but the correct tool for a stubborn crank pulley.

Go to autozone and ask for the chrysler harmonic dampner puller

quick work of the pulley

it took me forever to get mine off when I swaped cams. I ended up switching the jaws on the puller I had with the next size...PITA but after a few hours I was able to get to the next step.

Anyone have a pic of the 'correct' GM tool??

I don't think you can do it with out the Chrysler damper puller. Try all the auto parts stores in your area, one of them has to have it.

I used a snap on 3 jaw gear puller. I have never had a problem taking one off. I keep the factor bolt threaded in a little bit till it starts to come off. I have never had a problem do it this way. Also i put the jaws on the inside of the pulley where the belt goes. Good luck.

Here is the best picture I could find.

You can usually buy them for about $50. There are many makers, Snap-On, Mac, Cal-Van, KD, Lisle, Astro, etc. I purchased a used Mac of Ebay for about $50 shipped.
