Well since it sounds like VTEC, it must be awesome lol. And I would like the ability to essentially change cam profile on the fly like that, with a good tune it would be very useful. But I've already some across some info that says it wont work well with FI

I posted about issues with mine but, it was a magnacharger install. I think a turbo setup will deal with similiar issues(with wastegate) but, can't be completely sure.

The VVT in cruising conditions will raise the manifold pressure to 80-90kpa . This caused an issue where the bypass valve would start to close which is not good for just trying to cruise down the road.

It is easily programmed out with the popular tuning software suites.

I have not done any good testing with it at WOT. I did some SOTP stuff but, didn't feel much difference.

That's with a magnacharger, but I'd surely experience the same issue with the BOV closing. I wouldn't mind snagging a VVT cam from Texas Speed and giving it a shot if it weren't for that little bit of information...

Put in the 'just in case' parts order today... So I'll be able to minimize downtime if I have to go grab another engine. Got a PatG cam, PRC .675 springs, pushrods, head studs, and gaskets and whatnot en route. If I find more damage than I'm expecting tomorrow night, I'm headed to Texas on Friday to pick up an engine.

Regardless of the status of the 5.3, a 6.0 will make its way into the ECSB and then that's all she wrote for this truck. I'm scrapping the 408 idea, since I'd only dream of getting traction. I'm thinking...bring back the twincharger setup with the proper blower and a front mount in a large cube 4wd RCSB...

Pictures of the carnage...

first clue of the damage...

Never seen a valve like that before, and there was no audible detonation. I'm sure I would have heard at least something if it was some nasty detonation...it just all of a sudden started running shitty.
