How to pick the right cam?
How do you go about picking the right cam for your truck? 4.8L... What do you need to look for when getting one and how much is to much? IS it a big addition to the power in your engine? Do you need to retune after installation? What other additions woulfd you need to buy so that all parts are compatible and working well together?

I think this is one of the first NEWB ??? that i have read about swapping a cam, that I havn't cringed on 
Rules of thumb are how big of a converter are you willing to put in.. That has a bit to do with choosing LSA angles along with the duration of the camshaft. The weight of the vehicle has alot to do with what cam you get also.. You need to figure out what kinda driving you will do with it, race truck? Daily driver? On most cam swaps people always upgrade the springs, push rods.. The rest of it is good(retainers-keepers-lifters unless it is high miliage) A pcm tune is usually a must, but for a small portion of the time you can get away with the stock one untill you have time or $$ to get one... what are your goals, plans for the truck..??

John's right, there is a lot to consider before choosing a cam. You can look at other trucks similar to yours and compare. What is it you want to achieve and have you already taken care of your intake and exhaust?

This truck will definitely be a daily driver. I have a K&N CAI, and Flowmaster 40 series. But I would like to try to find a scoop to push some more col air into the filter cause right now just have hot air being sucked in from the engine compartment. One of these days this truck will be a sunday driver and hopefully it will get supercharger treatment.
