The valve train would be my biggest concern when it comes to high rpm's. I have personally seen valves float and contact the pistons in a corvette due to the valve springs loosing half there spring tension after about 35,000 miles or so. Didn't hurt the lower end but had to replace the heads. Bent the valves. I have my hoe set to 5800 rpm to help avoid this issue and since there is no more power up there why go past it. If you have already done the valvetrain upgrades then yes the rod bolts are your weak link and should be delt with.

I make peak power at 5500rpms and i shift at 6200.From the peak at 5500 to my shift point i only drop 15 hp.After that it starts dropping off fast so i figuere i'm good at the shift points i'm at for now.

yea im doing ther valve spring and upgrades as well to suport up to .600 lift so im not worried about them failng. i wont be spinning past 6800 so the rod bolts should hold up. i dont really know where i will be making peak HP with this cam but i figure it will be at least in the 6200-6400 range and if i shift between 66 and 6800 i should be doing pretty well as long as HP doesnt drop too much to make the rpm gain worth it. as it is i only drop 1700 rpms between shiftds anyways.(6200-4500)

I am still running the factory cam..well all internals are factory for now lol.But i drop a bit more in rpms than you do but i have the 3.42 gears so that could be why i drop a bit more.

I doesn't do me a darn bit of good to shift past 6200...in fact, I've gone back to shifting at 6100 because I seem to slow down if I shift any higher (it IS possible that my false KR issues are causing me to pull so much timing higher up that I can't spin well beyond that)

I've always shifted at about 10% past the peak rpm, say like 5200 peak I would shift at about 5700.

I just changed my shift points to 6200, I don't know if I like it or not. Seems like the enging is screeming. maybe I just need to get used to it.
