Default How do you mudders clean under your hoods

Went mudding a while back and still have mud packed under my hood and a lot of dirt covering the engine. Whats the best way to clean under the hood without messing anything up.

The way I did it with my jeep is to go crazy with some plastic. I covered anything that was electrical or could be damaged by water with plastic, then pressure wash that *****.

I covered alternator, anything that looked like computer or eletrical components, the dip sticks, oil filler cap, etc. before the wash. After the wash and it dried a little I would remove the plastic and clean all the sensitive stuff with a damp wash cloth.

I don't know if that's the best way to do it, but it worked ok for me. Have fun!

I do the same thing at the car wash with the high pressure, but the only thing i cover is the alternator, eveything else seems to be pretty much sealed up, sometimes i even use castrol superclean and rinse with water at home, just be carefull with any painted parts under ur hood

go and buy a "CD2 Engine Detail Kit" from Orielly's or Autozone or somewhere. that **** is awesome! like 6 bucks and u will get 2-3 cleans out of it. After i did it and someone saw my trucks engine bay they were like "is that a 2002?" (this was a while back) heh nice tho since its a 2000

I DOUSE the entire engine bay in simple green, let it sit for about 5 minutes, then take a high pressure washer and cut it loose under the hood, i mainly just stay away from the maf and the TB and any air induction places, everything else gets dealt with, and it works wonders! MAKE SURE ENGINE IS COOL!

What the hell do you mean you went 'mudding'... hopefully you have a truck now or something.

Why don't you just ask me these kinds of questions?

i dont wash mine....lol i dont even hose it off...ive had mud on EVERYTHING in my engine bay for a year now thats weird...ive owned my truck for a year...

i take that back....when i got done installing my cone filter intake...my mom took the liberty to spray my engine down with the hose and cleaned most of it off. didn't cover anything jsut went at it. i did it again a week later to get spots she missed.
