how can I decipher a vin?
I'm getting ready to start ordering all the peices I need to do a 4L80 conversion, but I got to thinking. Why can't I just order everything I need from the dealer? my same year truck (see sig) came from the factory with an 80, so in theory I can get everything there? right. So I found a few 3/4 tons online and wrote down their vins. I wanted to check them to see if they have an 80, that way I can go to the dealer and get everything for that truck, and put it in mine.

With the VIN, the dealer can tell you if it has an 80, along with any thing else. You're probably gonna pay more ordering from them.
Personally, I would just go with someone like Speed Engineering, who has already worked out a kit for a swap.
BTW, I never knew of a Yukon coming with an 80 in it.

Thanks, I'll just go to the dealer and ask. And yeah, the XL came in a 3/4 ton with an 80 and a 14 bolt. At least that's what I read. It should make my swap rather easy.
