High idle

Hey guys I'm a new member here, I bought a 03 Silverado couple weeks ago. Anyway over the weekend I cleaned the throttle body and now it idles a little high, and when I come to a stop it takes a few seconds before the rpms will come down. I did take the throttle body off to clean it so I guess the gasket may not be sealing. Or could it be the electronic throttle body? Any ideas?

sounds like an air leak....

did you reconnect the hose from the passenger valve cover to the intake tube?

recalibrate the throttle body

I don't remember a hose being there, but I'll double check.

How exactly do you do that, tuning software?

First check for air leaks. Spray carb cleaner around the intake and throttlebody with the truck running if the idle picks up you have a vacumm leak. If that does not work and you do not have a scan tool that will recalibrate the throttle body un hook the battery negative for 10 min. that will allow the computer to reset. it will usually take a day for the computer to re learn the air fuel mixture and then resume running normal. Also get a can of mass air flow cleaner and clean the mass air flow sensor if you have some miles on the truck.

ive done this also and the same thing has happened to me... u just need to drive around and wait for the computer to relearn the idle.. im assuming since u cleaned it its getting more air causing it to idle high.. mine usually takes about 1 full day of driving around till it adjust itself and comes back to normal.. but idk it might be something else..
