Default HID Problems? Help

I installed a 200amp alt with 4gauge wire and 250 amp inline fuse last weekend. I didnt add any grounds. Well today I put in some 8k hids for my lows. They work but after the truck warms up and idling the volts guage starts dipping in between 13 and 14 and the cluster flickers. I'm not sure what to do. Thanks for any help.

Nick

i have heard that when you add a high output alt you need upgrade the power wire from the alternator to the battery positive, the engine block to a ground(frame), and the battery negative to a ground(frame). mine does them same when i turn on my turn signals but i need to finish upgrading the wires. they call the the big 3 upgrade, hope this helps you

thats all that i can think of besides checking the power and ground connections at the hids, does it still do it if you bring the rpm up alittle? what does the truck idle at?

Alternators brand new just installed this weekend. Which grounds? It idles at 700rpms but I'm thinking about raising it to 800rpms cause I do have an underdrive pulley. But when I shift it from drive to park it still does it even though it raises the rpms up to 8 or 900. It was fine yesterday before the hids were installed.

i would upgrade the other wires from the battery and alt, cause thats just like having a hose thats 1/2 then steps down to a 1/8 and trying to push alot of water through it wont flow to well but if it was all 1/2 it would flow better. hope that makes some sense

Nick, when you installed your HID's did you just plug them into your existing light sockets or did you install a relay kit while you were at it? Some of the balasts can wreck havac with your existing wiring (too much load when energizing). The relay kits generally cure it, as your existing wiring then only trips the relay.

I just plugged it in to the existing wiring. Where could you get a relay kit for hids?
