Default HID kits from DDM

Hey guys,

I'm looking to up to HIDs in my truck and I found this site from searching here:

HID Kits, BMW Aftermarket Bumpers & Lighting, DEPO - DDM Tuning

I was wondering if anyone has had experience with the raptor kit in a 2002 era GMC sierra and if I would have to order anything extra.

Is the install plug and play, or is there anything to worry about? I had selected:

35 watts
6K
9005 (thats lo-beam...I have the 4-hi mod so I dont need hi's...my low beams are brutal)

Do I need anything else or does that sound right?

Thanks

I have them on both my trucks, 35w 6k's in my orange truck and 4500's in my Dmax. both high and lows with 4 hi mods. LOVE them!!

Just make sure you plug the stock plug in to the ballast backward cuz the polarity is reverse on these trucks.

So would what I have listed by any good or are there extras I need to get? I've read good things so I'm pretty keen on ordering, just don't want to get the wrong thing.

I had them on my Nissan Maxima daily driver for just over two years and a bulb went out on me. Other than that no issues to speak of.

I used the slim ballast kits. I have 55W 6000K on my R1 for ~2 years, and 35W 5000K on my truck in the low-beams for about a week. Both are working flawlessly. As mentioned, you need to switch the pins in the low-beam headlight connector for it to work. You can plug it striaght into the ballast so no relay kit is needed. Or at least I didn't need one.

I went with Sylvania Silverstar ultra high beams because HID's take some time to warm up, and if you're constantly switching the highs on and off with oncoming traffic then they may never reach their full brightness when you're using them. If you live in the boonies then HID high beams make more sense because they are on most of the time.

Unfortunately, the 5000K low beams make the Sylvania's look REALLY yellow.

Have the 35w raptor 4500k and working great for over a year. You don't need a relay kit, but the research I did recommended the use of one as the HID's draw more power than stock headlights and the stock headlight harnesses might not be designed for it.

35w Xenon...>...55w Halogen
...............Power................
3AMP.....................5AMP

I'm not seeing how conventional theory trumps reality, lol. The only time a relay kit is really needed is when the ground side has a poor conductor on the stock harness. With the more sensitive nature of ballasts and the lower possible power draw, the poor ground will become more evident.

PS: Even DDM ballasts only take 5 amps to start, as well. Unlike ballasts from the early 2000's that could gobble 20amps on startup, even cheap Chinese ballasts nowadays hardly take much power.
