Default help with my AC

I'm having a couple problems with my AC. one day it was extremelly hot here in Houston and I had my AC full blast then all of a sudden it stopped working. I turned it off then on and noticed it works fine on levels 1-4 but on level 5 it doesnt work, it's been like that for a few weeks now.

also what it has done is that when I have the AC on it will blow hot air on the passenger side and cold on the driver side (or vice versa)... it has only done this like 3 times and my cousins 06 silverado has done this also (mine is an 05).

Has anyone else had these problems? if so, how can they be fixed.

thanks

Take apart the wiring harness at the blower motor and check for burnt wires at the connection. the blower motor resistor and connecting harness is a big issue and has a tendancy to short out.if this is the case you will need to replace the resistor and a new harness to splice in place of the old.

that half hot half cold is a common problem..do what he said to try n fix it but turning your truck off and on will reset it most of the time.

as far as that not blowing on setting 5 thats a different problem, its a fuse under the hood from the factory i think they put to small a fuse up'd my blown fuse by 5 amps and have been fine ever since

A lot of good information in this thread:

Has a little bit of drama, though.

Ah ok. I will be trying thisthis weekend. Thanks alot guys.... now since we're talking about AC has anyone ever swapped the ac control unit for a digital one like the one on escalades? if so, is there any mods that have to be done or is it just plug n play? I saw one of those and liked the way it looked.

Sounds like you have a bad A/C control Module.
