Here's my dilemma. I currently have a 99 tahoe and it's worked well for me except that it doesn't tow my car/trailor very well(6000 lbs) I'm in the process of looking for a truck. I'm looking for something in the 02-03 year range..possibley a bit newer or older depending on price. I don't know whether to get a 1/2 or 3/4 ton. I've had people tell me good/bad about both of them. This vehicle will be my main vehicle but will only see maybe 5000 miles a year. It may tow the car twice a month during the summer if that that. It is also used for medium trips like vacations a couple times a year. Thanks for any insight or suggestions.

I would say an 01 RCSB but I am biased
. It depends which body style you like because they changed the front end and dash in 03. They also changed the pcm to 1mb. Maybe some other small things that I forgot.

Something like a an 02-04 Sierra Denali sounds very good for you. It's got a 6.0 so it should have no trouble towing. If you go to our TruckStop forum here you'll see one of our members just got a really nice 04 for $13,000

i dont think your typical 1/2ton is going to tow much better than what you have now.
i have towed with a 99 tahoe with a 5.7, an 01 tahoe with a 5.3 and a 01 ecsb 1/2ton with a 5.3. they were all pretty similur other than the 99 tahoe was pretty loose in the steering.
i was towing my 5000lb truck and a trailer so they all had to work hard.
for a truck to do much better i would think a 2500 would be needed but that is going to hurt your mileage quite a bit.
