I buy my gas at Costco, here in AZ they have no laws against price gauging and it seems that Costco is the only place that doesn't price gauge. I paid $1.77 while everyone else pays in the $2.00 range.

Here in the southern TX Gasoline has actually gone down about 3 cents in the last week. You could say I am already doing this. I hardly ever use my Sierra and only pump cheaper no name brand gas on my Sunfire.

Hrmm ... I use Exxon/Mobil exclusively. Reason being is I have an Exxon/Mobil card that saves me 3% everytime I put gas on it. I paid 1.75 - 3% for my supreme tank yesterday.

Either way the gas companies have the control. Do you think that if we stopped they would really drop their prices? Doubtful, esp considering that you are goin agianst the two biggest companies who have the most money to play with....

I just think that they would win on a stand out... and also Im pretty sure some small gas stations get their gas from the big stations so maybe they would still make money just not through their own stations....

Dont take me wrong, I hate the gas prices and would do anything to try to combate the price increases....

So....what if you are an employee at a Exxon/Mobil gas station and everybody stops buying gas at your store? Or what if you are the truck/tanker driver who delivers the fuel? Should you thank your fellow Americans for helping you become un-employed?

The only way to get the big oil companies to take notice is for the owners of the gas stations to boycott the fuel shipments. That ain't gonna happen.

I would have to agree, it may work but it is highly doubtful. Large companies win the war with large reserves of money, they can simply wait out the little guys if they have to. Considering that exxon mobil buys the largest amounts of crude oil in the world and then sells that to smaller companies who may or may not refine it themselves kinda makes it a no win situation. You could compare this to the railroad monopolies of the late 1800's, there are laws in effect to make business competitive and prevent large companies from slashing prices and waiting out the little guys. Businesses would rather keep prices higher and sell slightly less gasoline than have price wars with one another, unfortunately the united states is so spread out and people rely on there own transportation. Until we can all start driving less then prices will remain high, and I don't see that happening until prices go over $3.00 a gallon. Lets rally for Bush to go seize us some oil fields since we are over there already.
