GM Tech's...Heated seat question
#1
I know this is more of a performance and engine/drivetrain forum but I need some help with a BCM/body electrical problem.
I have a '03 Silverado LT with heated seats. Lately the drivers seat back has started turning on by its self. It will turn on high then turn down till it turns off then starts over again. now it will turn on and cycle a couple of times then stay on med or low. I can turn it off but it will cycle on again. I'm not getting any codes but I don't have a scan tool that will read anything but engine codes. The book says to hook up the scan tool and connect to the BCM and look for codes. The book says look at the drivers seat module and the drivers door module. Is there any tech bulletins out on the seats? I'm going on a trip for the next month and the heated seat back is getting annoying. The passenger seat works fine can the seat modules be swapped? Can the module that controls it be disconnected till it can be fixed? My wife loves the heated seats but I hardly use mine as it doesn't get cold enough here. Any ideas?
Sorry for being so long winded.
Thanks

Ill try and remember to do a check on bullitens tomorrow.I remember seeing a bulliten on something like this. You could just unplug the module for now but I dont know if the power seat works off the module.

Thanks chevymech. I'd like to unplug it but am afraid it will mess up something else. I'll be driving up to NC the first weekend of Aug. Spending a couple of days around Asheville then over to Hillsborough.

I think I narrowed it down to the switch in the door getting wet. It hasn't rained here for a couple of days and I just got in from my 300 mi drive to work and the seat back heater didn't come on. Now I just have to figure out how to take the door panel off to look at the switch.

I found some bullitens for that. Looks like its the seat module. To take the panel off, pop the lock out, remove the bolt. Pull the trim from around the handle, remove bolt from about the handle area. remove trim at top right of panel, triangle piece. And that should be it. Just pull up on the panel and it will pop off. Dont think it has any more retainers on an 03.

Resurecting a very old thread here in hopes of some info.
I have an 02 silverado LS. It had manual seats. I just bought seats that are bucket / power / leather / heated.
Does anyone know what the pricedure would be to make all the power crap work? I am confident I can make the power portion of the seat work by just running some power under the carpet to make the motors work.
I am more confused about the heated part. My door panel does not have the hole cut for the heated controls. I took the panel apart and noticed the score marks on the back of the panel. Can I just cut it out and install the heated controls? I have been looking at pictures and noticed the controls do not seem recessed like the door lock is. Does the BCM control the heated seats? Will it need to be reflashed? What harness will I need to make this work?
Worst case, I will not use the heated seat controls and just have power seats. But since they are there, I would like to make them work.
Any help would be appreciated.
