Default GM power for GMT's 900

the GMT-900 pickups will receive the Atlas 6 standard. It will likely have a power output of 290HP with 300lb/ft of torque. Optional engines will include the 4.8L V8 with 300HP and 335 lb/ft of torque, the 4.8L will be available in the Regular Cab and standard in the Extended Cab. The 5.3L Vortec will also carry on, but with some new muscle. The power numbers for the new 5.3L Vortec will be 355HP and 380lb/ft of torque. The L33 version of the 5.3L V8 will have 370HP and 385lb/ft of torque and will only be available in Crew Cab models. The 6.0L Vortec will jump in power to 400HP and 400lb/ft of torque, as reported to you by GMI in March. The LQ9 version of the Vortec 6000 will put out 435HP and 440lb/ft of torque. The 8.1 will return with extra power as well increasing HP from 330 to 375 and pumping up torque from 450 to an amazing 480! To top it all off, the Duramax 6600 will increase power from 310HP and 605lb/ft of torque, to 345HP and an earth shattering 630lb/ft

They did the duramax with the 360hp 650tq so im surely enough they will do some of this hopefully.

I think i like those ratings hopefully they are a bit off but not by much

Yeah, things are looking great for the new powertrain... Can't wait to see the crate engine availability. Now come on Chev, lets see an LQ9 in a RCSB 2x4 with a 6 speed.

Those are some really impressive numbers out of stock trucks! You got in right on the nose Leadsled! We all know that a T-56 will hold up to those hp and torque numbers, plus GM wouldn't even have to do any special manufacturing cuz the t-56 bolts right up.

That's good to see the numbers that these motors are putting out now from the factory, considering how easily people have been getting these kinds of numbers out of the LS series motors...

Is GM putting heads/cam packages on all those motors to get those numbers?

435hp from a LQ9? That's a 90hp jump. How they gonna do it? A really good tune? 15:1 compression? Factory installed nitrous kit?

How much of that power will make it through torque management? I'm assuming that the 4L60E will soldier on in most of the 1/2 ton trucks, or will the 80e be used in more models?

I would expect them to have the same kind of engine options as the new tahoes will. Hopefully. I saw that post a while back, but couldn't find it again when I wanted to. I'll take one 435 hp truck though.

Wow, I am impressed. Is the 5.3 still going to be available in a RCSB? Compared to other maufactuers today, 355 hp and 380 tq in a RCSB sure doesn't sound like a GM product. Maybe GM is finally understanding and listening. If the 355 hp 5.3 is available in a RCSB, I bet GM will give it a really tall rear end ratio (3.08, 3.23, etc.) because "a truck isn't a performance vehicle". Anyways, good job GM with the new engines!! That LQ9 is brutal!

I dont think those numbers are correct, if you look at GM's website for the new tahoe they say the 5.3 is only rated at 320 hp.. I dont know why the truck version would be rated higher than that, but I could be wrong..

Engine offerings for the new SUVs include:

* 4.8L iron block (RPO LY2), rated at 290 horsepower (216 kw)*
* 5.3L iron block (RPO LY5) with Displacement On Demand technology, rated at 320 horsepower (238 kw)* (including E85-capable version – RPO LMG)
* 5.3L aluminum block (RPO LC9) with Displacement On Demand technology and E85 capability, rated at 320 horsepower (238 kw)*
* 6.0L iron block (LY6) heavy-duty engine with variable valve timing, rated at 350 horsepower (260 kw)*
* 6.0L aluminum block (L76) with Displacement On Demand technology and variable valve timing, rated at 355 horsepower (264 kw)*
* 6.2L aluminum block (L92) with variable valve timing, capable of 380 and 400 horsepower (283 kw to 298 kw)*

As much as I would like to see it I would have to disagree with the T56 being able to stand up in a truck with a 6.0 in it. Not so much because of the power, but because of the weight of the vehicle. In a swap it would work okay, but for an OE lookin for 100,000 mile longevity it probably wouldnt stand up without some upgrades. That extra 1000 lbs from a truck would deffinetly wear on it. Enough f-bodies and vettes are breaking them already.
