GM increases prices big time?

GM should be trying to increase their market share to benefit the long term bottom line. The best way that I can see of doing this is to keep price increases to an absolute minimum. They seem unwilling to sacrifice any of their profit margin to help them increase/recover market share. I think next to loyalty they feel they have a captive share of the market especially when it comes to trucks. Their new designs and technologies(6.2L/6L80E & 4.5 DMAX) are a step in he right direction.

They need to offer the 6.2 in a rcsb!!!! Keep the price down and give some options for those that want them. Hell even a excb with the 6.2 would be sweet but as far as I know it's still only available in hd, Denali etc... Personally I'll take mine with cloth, pw,pdl and keyless. And around 18-20k

i am obviously aware that many items inflate every year. but i thought it was going to be a significant increase.
i can get an 08 truck very similar to mine for about $1k more than what mine was priced back in 1999. plus the trucks now have alot more options on them like dual climate control, heated mirrors and windshield washer fluid, remote start, 1 year on-star. i am sure i missed a whole lot more. so i don't think in a period of 8 years there has been much inflation on Z71 EC.

Wait until 09 when the small block diesels come out. Once they get the bugs worked out you won't hear any complaints from me.

prices are set buy the cost of materials, assembly, and DESIGN. If everyone stopped begging to have GM come out with new body styles every 2 years. The prices reflect the amount of man-hours put into designing a "new body style". Once the die's are made, and the moldings cast. The cost goes down, and GM's profit goes up, which they should pass on to the consumer.
Anyways, works the same in all industries. That's why perscriptions cost so much, you not paying for 60 pills. Your paying for the years of research spent on developing a product.
If GM stuck to a design for more then 2 years, you'd see prices level-off a bit.
They're cutting Trailblazer SS's (and all Trailblazers) after this year. So all the machinery has to be recalibrated for a new vehicle, all the laborers have to be retrained on a new vehicle, crash tests have to be run, all the way down to the guy who sculpted the concept outta clay, he has to get paid. Cost $$$.
