yea, when you spend 20 - 30g's for a truck.. you at least want the engine to run smooth.

Mine has a tick also but seems to be coming from the alternator. I'm taking it in tommarrow to see what they say and the damn front end feels loose while turning...

Now as far as knocking goes, my truck has some pretty bad spark knock above 4K rpms when on low octane gas. It sounds like you put a rock in a tin can and shake it fast and violently.."CLACK CLACK CLACK CLACK CLACK!"

Some 92 octane or better solved that, and now it pulls hard for a stock truck without the noise (other than the harmless start up tick). I guess my either my knock sensors don't work or the computer isn't reading it correctly. Either way 92 octane is fine by me, it's like a factory performance tune!

My Tick you can hear going down the hwy at 90mph. I have had friends tell me about it when they are next to me. Hmm....Might need to take my truck to my buddy at the dealership.....maybe an '04 will be nice. Just change all my stuff over!

I bitched about that knock since I bought my 2000; Called the customer service 1-800- number and filed a complaint. Took truck back to dealer for evaluation.
Customes service extended the warenty on the engin to 100,000 miles. I started running Mobile 1 oil and it seems to have disipated, or I just dont here it as much. There is a service bulitin out on the lifter ticking noise. They say that it is caused by a bad O-Ring in the oil pump. You may want to get that addresed ASAP
