I am curious about this myself! Will the new genIII's bolt up to my existing tranny?

Anybody? Ive checked on a few sites but im not sure if the tranny is a direct bolt up or not? My truck has almost 140k on it and it would like a new engine soon im sure(still running good though). I just dont like the fact that i cant upgrade the fuel on this thing or the intake. The gen 3s are so much easier to tune and swap parts with. I would really like to find a 5.3 or 6.0 in there. Maybe the 5.3 for fuel eco. Im not sure how much better it is on gas, but ive been driving around in my brothers 03 SS for the past few days and it has a 3k stall, cam, longtubes and I swear that there is a hole in the gas tank!
