You will want a 4L80.
Your stock flex plate should work.
What is that last link about knock sensors? Only use AC Delco/GM Genuine knock sensors and just drill out the holes in the block. I believe there are some bracket adapters if you don't want to drill.
I was warned away from the 80 because of the size difference and my truck being 4wd. I won't be launching this thing but would like 4wd for the winter etc. What do you think about that stall? Should idle and putt around fine without surging? Or go higher?
80 is going to be a harder swap but with that much torque and that heavy of a truck a 60 just may not keep up. Monster builds some good transmission so you are in good hands.

Your stock flexplate will be fine unless you just want a new flexplate.
Ive never had good luck with Monster Transmissions and their customer service is horrible.
4L80 swap isnt bad to do and the size difference isnt much but you will need a shorter rear driveshaft and a stock 2500HD/3500HD front driveshaft, $100 Input gear for the transfercase, Move 2 wires at transmission connector and add 2 wires for the ISS, Converter company can make a converter to fit the 4l80 transmissino and your 4l60 flexplate.
For torque converter id rather see something in the 3000 range. 1800-2300 is barely more than stock.

In the car it needed to stay above 1700 for smooth cruising.
Thanks for all the help guys. I think I've got a great starting point. I have no doubt I'll run into issues as I install this stuff but I know that there will be fewer because of your input.
About the only unresolved issue I (might) have is whether or not the P/S and A/C will hook up to what's in my truck. I don't know how much variance there is. Maybe they've all been the same since the dawn of time. Maybe they change them every year.
Just use your same compressor, the newer ones are a little different. Power steering I would also just use the same style pump for ease but yes adapters work.
I'm slowly building a Gen IV L96 block with some Gen III electronics (because that's what my trucks run). I reamed the knock sensors taps and re-tapped them for the Gen III sensors.
It was pretty easy. Took about 10 minutes each side. I can check what the thread pitch is.
The knock sensors shown are rusty because I changed them out from my 06 Suburban LQ4 since I was replacing the valley cover on it.
