Question Fuel pump/fuel gauge sending unit

My crew cab has 140,xxx miles and I have the dreaded low fuel light when I know I have afull tank, then sometime the gauge works correctly... Anyways with 140,xxx and I'm gonna have the whole fuel pump assembly out would I be better of replacing the whole fuel pump and assembly with a new $90 dollar pump/assembly/level sender or replace just the pump with a walbro 255 and a new fuel level sending unit and just use the stock assembly?

Thanks

If I were to go the walbro route I've read there are a couple different 255 pumps which would you recommend?
