front brakes
#1
I had a problem yesterday at a stop light. My front brakes locked up. Just before I came to a complete stop the left side front brake locked. I gave it some gas to break loose. What do you think I need to look for when I check it out?

sticky caliper, abs sensor/ring...
you ever put a dab of high temp silicone on your brakes to make sure the pads slide freely?
I dunno what year truck you have but it could be rust on the abs ring on the hub causing a fault reading.

Sounds like you have a calpier thats locking up. Several reasons for this to happen......a defectice piston, bad seal in piston or maybe even the brake hose to the caliper is breaking down or has a "mashed" place in it. I would start with the hose, examine it and feel if it's "squishy" or if it feels tight. Tight is good. Then work you way to the caliper looking for any kind of brake fluid seepage. Odds are you'll end up replacing the caliper. You can pick up a cheap re-build at any Autozone or Advance for like $18.00, I don't reccomend them but to each his own. If I were doing this on my own truck, I'd get a quality "new" caliper and I'd also do a new hose regardless of the condition of the old one.
