Default Flying Corvette engine!

Seems like this engine is good for aircraft applications. link www.aerotekaviation.ca

Pretty interesting. I copied this paragraph from their site...

The official launch of the HELICOR V400 is scheduled for spring 2004. Based on the new LS6 405 from GM producing 465 HP at 5800 RPM. Controlled by our ECM, and pegged at 4860 RPM, will produce 400 HP. with prop RPM at 2700 RPM generating 792 ft-lbs of torque. Equipped with the 84” MT Propeller, which can be pitched at 11,5 degrees for take-off instead of the regular 8 degrees, thanks to the V400’s amazing torque. Long engine life is guaranteed since the engine will be programmed to run at 74% of red-line max RPM for take-off, and 50% in cruise. All this and economy too. Fuel burn is predicted to be 11 gallons (US) per hour.
As noted above, small engine airplanes run well below redline even at full throttle. It is necessary to ensure long, failure-free operation - a must for airplane equipment. Cruising at altitude, they tend to run around 1500-2000 rpms. I guess maybe 2700rpms for that one. Nice to see an LS6 being used for this application. I'm curious if they have engine longevity data for this powerplant.

Be sure to check out the video of the plane taking off at full throttle.
