WTF? Can you elaborate how a 12V mech injection Cummins was stuffed under the hood and hooked to the 4R100 trans?

Crazy! I never would have guessed that would be do-able.

Any ideas why the Navistar Powerstroke was tossed? Can't you get insane amounts of power from those?

The powerstroke as a motor is starting to develop some serious H.P. +500 and over a 1000 pounds of torque, however it cost quite a bit to get it there, new injectors--$4,000, New Turbo, $3,000, New Trans--$4,000, Fuel system reworked--$2,000, New Chip, $500, it all is pretty expensive, however the Cummins has some very "user" Friendly components, injectors are way less money, maybe a quarter, new turbos or even twins can be used, there may only be one or two twin powerstrokes in the country, way more difficult to put twins on. There are guys with street driven cummins powered vehicles that are running close to a 1000 hp, with over 1500 foot lbs of torque. For grins, do the calculations of what it would take to push a 8,000 lb truck to an 11.42 in the quarter at 118 mph. Diesels can and do make some serious power. BTW, the Chevy's are really coming on as well. Hope this helps.

My truck weighs in at 6300 with the lift. So given its a 1 ton....I used 7500# for the weight. I used this simple calculator.http://www.dsm.org/tools/calchp.htm With the given time and speed. Its pushing around 950 HP!!!

I didn't know it was so expenisive to mod a Powerstroke. The Duramax isn't cheap but not too expensive: $1200 injectors; $4300 for fully built Allison w/ converter; Etc.

Good info!

That weight is probably pretty close, I have a Dually 4 WD, with custom bumpers and my weight is around 8300.

On a side note, he runs twin turbos producing 95 lbs of boost!!!!! He has dynoed over 800 rwhp with #2 only (diesel), no drugs. He does have both propane, and nitrous available if he wants. His goal is to go 10's.
