I'm getting A/C condensate dripping onto the passenger side floor of my 2006 Tahoe (it's plain water, not coolant). I can hear water slooshing around in the HVAC box when I turn a sharp corner. I'm assuming the evap drain is clogged. Where is the drain located and how do I go about unclogging it? I did a search and found the below listed post, but I didn't find much specific info on how to fix the issue. Thanks in advance.

 

Its on the passenger side..Small hose,Maybe 1/2? and sticks out just alittle..Its easy if you can put it on a lift and blow air through it,with like an Air Blow gun..Just watch out cause of course if theres water in it..It comes at you..

 

 

Thanks for posting the pic, but apparently my Tahoe is slightly different. I did a bunch of googling and saw several references about the drain being behind and below the accumulator tucked partway behind a heat shield. I think I finally found mine (see pic). What I can't figure out is most people say it's a 90 degree elbow tube, but mine looks like a plug. When I reach in there and feel with my fingers, it feels like a plug too. I'm trying to remove the heat shield to get better access, but I am having a hard time reaching a couple of the nuts for the shield. This is a pain in the hinny. Any ideas what to do?

 

Well, I decided to try and pop the plug out with a screwdriver. It didn't seem to budge, so I finally poked through it with a screwdriver and now I have a steady stream of water draining out. I've only had the truck a couple of months, I wonder why someone plugged the drain?

 

The elbow melted from heat. Be sure to yank it off completely and go order a new elbow at a dealer. The elbow must be in place or it will flood the cab because the road draft going into the pipe while driving will keep water from draining.

I was finally able to remove most of the rubber plug off the drain tube. While I destroyed it in the process, I put the pieces together and examining it. Sure looks like a plug and not a 90 degree tube. I really don't think the elbow melted off what I had on my Tahoe. I plan on ordering a new one. In the meantime, I'll see how it works with it completely off.

 

Some dipshit could have seen it dripping and thought it had a leak and plugged it? Wouldn't be first time I seen it happen.

 

Did you figure out what the problem was? I have a 2007 tahoe and mine is leaking into the passenger compartment as well but i have sucked out the drain with a wet vac multiple time and would think that would unblock anything holding the water in. I do get about 2 quarts of water out everytime i suction the drain tube.
