Default engine harness swap

I have a friend that has a whole 06 harness throttle body everything. Would it be worth converting my 99 to drive by wire. So maybe later i can put a bigger dbw throttlebody and intake. Hes about to put it on ebay so I could prob swap mine for his if its worthwhile.

Depends on what you're doing with it. If you want one of the massive DWB throttle bodies for staying NA, then it might be worth it. Forced induction...just leave it. Unless you are looking for insane amounts of power.

I vote no. Can the 99-02 computers even control a DBW? When I pull up those tables on mine, they're completely blank.

well he has everything computer, pedal, tac box. I was just wondering if its worth the time and money rather than buying a x link (whatever they call it) or just buy a cable driven tb. Also a fast 102 combo is way out of my budget.

Yes, some vehicles like Corvette's and some of the Trucks Suburbans and Tahoe's were factory equipped this way from 99-02.

Don't waist your time trying to convert to the newer operating system. It will leave you with more head aches just trying to do the conversion. There are larger aftermarket cable style TB's.

If 1 part in the system fails or is not working properly, it will leave you in REP mode. You won't be able to go over like 20 MPH. You will basically be stranded until you fix it. I believe you would also have to cut the bracket for the cable style pedal off in order to mount the electronic pedal in it's place on the floor board.

REP=Reduced Engine Power
