Default Does it ever amaze you guys.....

That all of us around here casually talk about 500-700hp trucks like they're a common thing !!!

I remember my old '95 K1500 with the TBI 350, I did a P&P Vortec head swap, a GMPP Vortec-to-TBI manifold, a Holley TBI, and a GM LT4 HOT cam....that got me 285hp at the tires and I thought that was MOVIN' for a truck.

Now I'm putting together a twin-turbo system and would like to nail 500hp to the tires and I'm thinking "Damn...I'm gonna be underpowered compared to some of these guys". I guess what boggles my mind even more is that can ask in-depth technical questions pertaining to a twin-turbocharged truck and NOT get looked at like I've been dipped in chocolate and sprinkles because it's already been done !!......we've obviously come a looooong way in a short time

I realize the days of smog-choked anemic small-blocks are at an end but when it gets to the point that a 5000+lb truck can hang with pretty much ANYTHING on the road I start to wonder when it's gonna end....hopefully not before before I beat moregrip....but I do wonder

Yeah...I say 1000hp and people look at me like I am nuts...then I say in a truck, then they think I am dreaming...but if you think about it, we really just have big f-cars....everything else is pretty much the same.

if you take our Dyno Truck List for example, 500+rwhp trucks really aren't common at all. We can talk about them all day, but 300-400rwhp seems more the norm based on whats been posted.

you won't be underpowered bro (500rwhp is alot), just overweight

I guess all I'm saying is that it's not UNCOMMON to see a 500+hp pickup truck nowadays.....it used to be that if you owned a truck it was a TRUCK (heavy, cumbersome, slow, unwieldy), nowadays we have factory sub-6 second 0-60 times, .9+ G skidpad numbers, straight-line acceleration that will SCARE you and these are STOCK trucks I'm talking about (mostly the Lightning and SRT-10)

I just think it's AMAZING how far we've come in so few years, I can pull up beside a mid-80's corvette and be pretty certain that I'm the faster of the two vehicles....even 10 years ago this just WAS NOT the case when it came to owning pickup trucks
