Default Different kind of fuel pressure problem

In that I have too much. Truck isn't being driven very much and last couple times driving I look up and will have like 70 psi on the gauge. Romp on it a couple times and it would drop back where it needs to be then maybe a little later e back up. My first thoughts were a faulty FPR. It's an 03, return system, with an inline walbro. Today I swapped out FPR's with another I had laying around and about the same thing. Key on it it would run up to 75 to 80 psi.

Thoughts?

THmmm, thats strange Roger,

I just tested my psi last week and also had 70 at idle, but i was using a corvette style reg/filter with a return system.Turns out it was faulty.

Ordered a regulator from lonnies performance, should fix the prob.

if you cant figure it out give him a call, he's available at night till 11pm.

The gauge could be getting screwy, verify the reading with another gauge before you start troubleshooting a problem you might not really have.

Yeah, plan on throwing a mechanical gauge on it tomorrow along with the original FPR. I can't think of anything beside a faulty FPR, gauge/sending unit, and unlikely.... a blocked return line.

Yeah I was going to say maybe the return line is either plugged or smashed although not as likely on a truck as a car since a truck sits up higher. Also, if it was plugged or smashed it would never come down after reving it a few times. The only other thing it could be if its not the fps is the gauge in my mind.

I like to follow up with the threads. Verified fuel pressure was correct at the port with a mechanical gauge. Checked output signal voltage at the autometer sending unit and it was correct so the gauge was just reading wrong. Couple smacks on the gauge pod and all is well. Have a connection problem somewhere at the gauge that I'll tear into when smacking doesn't work.

Smacking is always the first fix to try Roger

Kicking is the second step.
