Denali headlight swap
#11
Ever since I put the denali lights on my truck with hids, I hate to drive another vehicle that does not have a similar setup. Trying to go as far as retrofitting a set of projector lights from a mercedes or jag for my 80 z28. As for clearing them I'd go off of the above advice and say keep them like they are, but then again if you the time or patience.

The locking cams on a 9005 are different than that of a 9006. You can't interchange a 9005/9006 bulb...HOWEVER, the plug on the 9005/9006 is the same
I sell HIDs, so if you have any questions on anything, whether it be on bulb differences to how an entire HID system works just shoot me a PM

I sold them and I wish I wouldn't have
now I'm just rocking some stockers with the oragne reflectors in them.
On mine I just cleared them like you do any other ones I used a butter knife and and razor knife and just pry and cut. You have to heat them up to get the glue where you can cut it. And it cools down fast so I had to heat em up like every 5 min. The glue they use to hold those headlights together is rediculous. It is a lot stronger than the plastic housin and I broke a lot of pieces off while prying and cutting them but I glued it all back together when I put them back together. But basically you just start by heating them up cut heat cut heat cut heat ....... And work your way all the way around the headlight using the butter knife to pry alittle so you can get your razor knife in there.. They really suck to do and I'm not gunna do another set I have been trying to buy the set I cleared back forever.

so i just found a friggin sweet deal on craigslist!
$75 for a OEM set. came off an 01 C3 after 3 yrs of use & got replaced by some aftermarket halo units and they've been in the halos' boxes ever since. excellent shape, nothings broken or chipped. adjusters still work fine. the only thing is that it looks like the starts of some fine cracks on the projector housings, but that's the way almost every used set i've seen seemed to be.
i drove halfway home with the passenger side swapped to do an A-B comparison. wow, what a difference! the light's more even & a little brighter thanks to the 9005. now i just gotta get some bulbs - he used his in his halo lights, so i'm running with nothing in the high beams for now. i plan on getting a set of HIDs for the lows & some HIRs for the highs. i reckon i'll run them for a couple days to get a feel for them & then commence the clearing process. wish me luck

the denali lights use 9005s in highs and lows while the base lights use 9005 high and 9006 low. i bet i could run a 9005 HID in the base low beam, but then you're running a higher-output lamp, so it would be off there, too
