Default Dakota R/T in my rearview

My brother has a 98 Dakota with a recent '01 R/T drive train transplant. he's got a mopar performance computer, headers, flowmasters, 3.90's and 275/45r17w/ an eaton. I run a 2000 ecsb 5.3 w/ 54000 mi. k&n filter, hypertech, no cats and a flowmaster 40 single 3" in dual 3" out dumped at end of cab. 3.43's and 275/55/r17 w/ no posi. my problem is it is my mission in life to roll in front, and i cant do it. head to head up to about 85-90, but i cant push it past 3500-3750 rpm in o/d. I hate that tailgate. help me!

youre hitting the speed limiter
any tune should take care of that
and keep you in front the whole time
with the extra power
I prefer hptuners

A stall converter headers and a custom tune would do it.

Get a good ls1 edit tune, converter and maybe a cam. Just do something because we cant have you out there get spanked by R/Ts.

i too vote for stall and tune ..... heads and cam is a major operation so maybe not for the faint at heart but stall isnt that bad and you dont have to do much for a tune either even if you do it yourself

I think you got enough tuner with your hypertech. Why is OD an issue? Third w/3.42 gears would rev out in the 140's.
I suggest 4.10 gears and a posi (auburn or eaton) about a grand $ installed.
Long tube headers (ASM or Thorley) anouther grand $ installed.
Your going to have to run 14's to handle a good running R/T.
Those mod's will have him looking for Mo Par ts.

Good advice, Jim. Glad to see you make your way back to the board. When we going to get together and give those Hemis hell at Memphis?

i'm not sure if the hypertech is doin it. it would only allow for H-rated tires@ 128 mph. am i running 128 in OD @ 35-3700 rpm? it doesnt shut down or anything it just wont push it anymore. i've run a best of mid 14s @ 14.60-14.80. bubba is runnin low, 14.10-14.20. i can handle it on the track, because it's never more than a truck length. but when i cant read the Texas plates anymore on the back roads, it sucks. does this sound like a speedlimiter problem? headers are a gauranteed thing but i want to know more about these other tuners...
