Corvette LS6 camshaft on a Silverado SS
#1
Does anyone have an LS6 camshaft on a 6.0L? What are the gains if any? I know everyone is going to say go aftermarket but I don't want a lopey idle, looking at durability, I don't wanna start breaking parts. Please advise.

It will pick up some above 3500-4000 RPM. It is a cam designed for a light sports car, not a heavy truck.
Cam Motion, Brian Tooley, Racing, Texas Speed, etc. - all can get you a cam better suited for your truck. And it won't have to be lopey or have aggressive ramp rates.

That's what I had in my turbo truck. Hard to say when it started pulling hard because of a little lag but as I recall it was 3k and above. It pulled like a mf'r at about 3700 to shift point which was set at 6400. It was smooth as silk but I'm afraid there are definitely better choices on bottom end. Like said above it's a heavy truck and low end torque is king. Lobe separation is like 121 or some crap and you need maybe 114 for a still smooth idle imo. 112 would pick up some more but may have a little more idle. Don't do 110. I sure wouldn't unless it's boosted. I know there are guys that run LS9 cams as well and I bet they are doggy on the bottom as well. Good luck!
