Coolant passeges help?

So I am getting ready for my FAST install this weekend. I am reading that my engine is supposed to have this front coolant passage and the rear blocked off????

Does this sound right. I am not sure whats back behind the stock intake but this is not sounding right.

This goes in upfront

They are steam tubes. G.M began blocking the rear two ports sometime after 2000 (?). Some believe the vent tube was part of cylinder 7 failure cause in boosted applications. You might spend some time researching, but in general you are fine blocking the rears off, as I mentioned they come that way from the factory.

Bringing this one back... My rears are also blocked off ('01 5.3) and I was wondering why, and if it's better to unblock them.

I had planned on using the 4 way steam tube that I have on my last engine build, then I noticed that my 243 heads don't have any holes for the steam port on the back of the heads. It appears that the new cylinder heads are now unique to the right/left side of the engine.

Really? My 799's (supposed to be the same as 243's) had the passages in the back. Still blocked them off.

Just curious, that's all.

Id vent them if you can... it cant hurt.
Im trying to make some vents out of the block off plates.

Somebody makes those blocks that are threaded, meaning you bolt them on and can run AN or hardline. Kurt Urban makes a kit that does it, but its overpriced IMO.

Or Drill/Tap the ones you got and thread in some 1/8" NPT - -3an fittings. and make some hoses.. vola
