Default coolant leak

did a search, its like ive read in a lot of posts, i dont know where its going. i dont smell it, but for when i top it off and maybe spill a bit. nothings wet, it isnt in the oil, just changed the plugs... dry as a bone, no steam out of the tailpipes.i topped it off maybe 3 days ago, and got a low coolant light coming home tonight. took about half a gallon to bring it back up.never got hot. topped it off, left it running and went over it with a drop light... i dont see anything.this is the second time this month ive had the low coolant light come on. for it to be losing coolant that quickly you`d think it would show up somewhere. replaced the waterpump maybe....45k miles ago, wasnt even my problem at the time, but anyway. a lot of fingers point to the gaskets. mines a 99. or to loose bolts.im gonna see how tight the bolts are, and if they`re tight.. i guess ill just yank the pump and see if its the gaskets. aside from that, im at a loss. ive never had a leak that was so hard to diagnose. when my grand marquis leaks coolant you know where its coming from. bit of a rant, once again. i hope someone has some advice for me. im at a complete loss. i dont want to have to take it to someone, i dont have the money.

Did you put new gaskets on when you replaced the pump? They are reusable, but they're known to fail a lot on the early trucks.

You can always try compressing each cyl with air. Might have to turn the engine over by hand to get the in/ext valves closed. If coolant starts bubbling in the coolant reservoir then it sounds like a blown head gasket. Just another thing to try.

thanks for the responses, guys. i got out there and took off the air intake and the upper fan shroud, and started snooping around. i noticed a wet spot on the inner fender well that id been mistaking for spillage. its leaking at the freaking sensor on the overflow tank. so, i guess ill be taking that off tomorrow and having a look at it. has anyone dealt with this? just wondering how much money ill end up having to spend. hopefully its an easy and inexpensive fix.

Could be leaking from the heater core. It makes sense that the light comes on when getting on it because the coolant sloshes away from the level sensor and makes it come on.

went out this morning expecting to see more moiture than i did. i guess it pisses out of there when it gets hot and im getting on it? but, its lost a lot of coolant, and this doesnt seem like a big leak. but it`ll **** enough away in a day or so to drop it blow the sensor. scratching my head here. the tank is dry, theres a small area on the inner fender well were its wet.... everything else is completely dry. weird.
