i have heard of people blocking them off before. atleast one of them with no problems. some people even block off the back also with no problems.

i think they just regulate an even amount of coolant on each side of the motor. someone else probably knows that part

Well with the three responses I received in this thread and based off of the two "logical" responses I guess I won't block them off.

Thanks for the input guys.

they help get air/steam out of the heads since with block offs air bubbles can get trapped at the high spot.

i got an older ls1 style on my new motor, its a hardline that runs all four together. not real pretty but its hidden well enough under the manifold.

That is correct, there was some talk from 427 on ls1tech about making them large to aid in the number 7 cylinder failure issue... I can dig up alot more info if youd like, but bottom line. you really want at least the front two hooked up...

If I could do it over, I would change the fittings I used to remove the large loops in the rear, 99% sure air gets trapped in them the way I have them now. As for helping, not sure yet. but the top of number seven piston looks like all the rest...
a pic for you laughing pleasure....
