Default Color matching rear bumper.

I'm finally going to get another bumper after months of not having one, and I want to color match it(bumper not the pads), but I have a couple of questions.

First, do I prep and paint it, or do i have it powder coated, I wouldn't mind powder coating long as it matched the color of the truck.

Second, do i start with a W/T bumper or a chrome one?

Have it powdered if you can.. Will hold up ten times better and longer then paint it self. Start with a work truck bumper, as the chrome is alot harder to blast off then paint

Would a Z71 tahoe rear bumper work? I've got a Summit white truck and I've seen those tahoes with white rear bumpers

Tahoe bumpers are way bigger than a truck bumper.

Not true.

I just took some rough measurements of my 2000 silv. rear bumper and my wifes 2005 Tahoe Z71 rear bumper.

The truck bumper was roughly 1.5 - 2'' longer than the Tahoe bumper, could have been the design of the plastic cap.

Im betting it will work.

I have a set of black Tahoe Z71 bumpers im going to buff up and install on my truck, i'll let ya guys know if i run into any snags.

That would be my only concern. Some colors like black may be dead nuts. On a color like Arrival Blue, closest color I can get is a blue candy. I know this for another item.

Anyway, on my color or say a Pewter or Silver Birch, I'd think it'd be something I'd worry bout. I know paint will match, but powdercoat is so durable.

Does anyone have a p/n for a '04 Silvy w/t rear bumper? Or the front too?

It may be basically the same part as a Work Truck bumper, but the Sierra Denali’s as well as the C3’s came with body colored rear bumpers. Beings that our rear bumpers are really no more than a sheet metal cover, it shouldn’t cost too much for new replacement unit.
