Default Close to pullin the trigger on new Vcm suite

Soo after reading and researching for weeks I have decided that I am tired of having to pay someone else to tune my truck. Im looking at the hp tuners vcm suite which includes the scan tool along with the editor and enough credits to go ahead and get started asap. I know this is a huge step to take but I like the idea of having the equipment to change anything at anytime I want. I just want to know how many people actually know that YELO" s tuning for dummies actually works to setup your ve tables as this is considered to be the foundation of the tune. It seems pretty straight forward to perform. Any advice for the new beginner other than save my current tune on a million different storage devices just in case I fubar it. I know this is kind of a tuning subject but Im posting here. Seems to get better luck in general discussion.

Spend a lot of time reading and learning on how it works, especially the hpt forum. Having the tools and knowing how to use them are VERY different things.

Yeah that is very true. I will be the first person to say that I know just about enough to get in trouble when it comes to tuning. I just want to poke around with it for a while and take things very very slow. My wife hasn't hardly said a word to me bc I stay buried in hpt forum and studying all of the information here on pt.net haha

The first week or two I wouldnt change anything, just get used to the scanner and the editor.

Well all I have is time to fool with it. I am still on my 30 day convalescent leave bc I broke my hand and hand surgery on it 2 days after I returned from Afghanistan. I just finished taking my tranny out for my new stall and servo. Took me a full day but I did pretty good for a one handed tranny mechanic.haha
