Default cleaning up the wiring harness.

there seems to be a lot of people interested in this mod but i couldn't find a lot of info on it.

ive seen grippys epic thread where he does it (page 30). he gives some detail but im sure there is more to it.

does anyone have some good info or a step by step on how to clean up the wiring harness. in the spring im planning on cleaning up my engine bay and reworking the harness seems like a must to get the clean look.

any good places to buy shrink wrap?
what sizes are needed?

Here is what I did, I did not get around to putting wire covering on it yet but here are some action shots... BTW you have to take off all the tubing, electrical tape, etc...

I think this is the only "during" shot I took of mine. I wish I had the one where I had every individual wire separated and tagged, it looked like my wiring harness exploded, lol.

Here's how it looks now.

Hell of a deal. Did you have to extend of parts of the harness to reconnect things? I hate messing with and opening up harnesses. It makes my fingers hurt. One thing my instructor told me/us was to use a sewing seem ripper to tear open the tape on harnesses. Its not supposed to hurt any of the wiring but makes it quick and painless to get the tape off.

Yeah, some of the harness will have to be extended.

They are currently hiding back between the rear of the engine and the firewall. I'm going to put them back on the valve covers though and try to modify an set of LS1 Vette engine covers to fit. I don't like how the plug wire routing turned out and I ended up swapping back to the stock valve covers. I couldn't get these ones to stop sucking oil through the PCV system since they didn't have baffles in them.
