cc sb vs ec stnd???????????
Decoder-Crew Cab with the short bed vs the Ext cab with the standard bed.
Looking at buying a new 1500 in the next month or so with the max pak. The dealer let me take an ext cab (only 5.3) with leather and then returned it and drove a cc with the short bed with the max pac.
6.0 is definitly much stronger than the 5.3, but the cc also seemed to ride a little better, and I'm told the cc comes with a 14 bolt rear diff vs a 10 bolt in the ext cab.
Has anyone got a cc with the short bed and found themselves missing the extra length of the standard bed (tool box and trying to get a quad in the back?)
Any other input? Thx!

Are you sure you cant get the heavier 14 bolt as an option. You used to be able to order a heavy 1/2 ton suspension that came with the 14 bolt rear end.
You used to be able to order a 14 bolt 1/2 ton truck with the F44 suspension 6600lb gvrw vs. the regular 6100 gvrw suspension withthe 10 bolt? Maybe you cant get F44 anymore in the 99+NBS trucks??

Humm looking at my order codes the crew cab, reguardless of engine comes with the highest spring rates aval for a 1/2 truck. the Tbars and springs are much stiffer then the extended cab (several 100lbs I believe). The trucks do not come with 14 bolt rears but a very still 1/2 ton suspension.

After looking at the rear dif on a 06 1/2 ton ext cab and a cc cab with the max pac, there is a diff. More bolts on the cc cab-heavier duty.
I don't want to go back to an hd-don't need that much truck with the accompanying weight, horrendus turning radius, and bad mpg.
I think I can coax much better mpg out of a 1/2 ton, and with the LQ9 also.

So you can only get a 14 bolt in the 1/2 ton B4V VHO trucks, the 1/2 ton 2wd SS Silvy and the 1/2 ton Vortec Max packaged trucks. As well as Trailblazer SS.
I think if you got a non-Vortec Max ecsb that it would just have the 10 bolt. Vortec Max package selects 4l70e trans and 14 bolt 9.5" ring gear SF rear end.
Whether you get the 14 bolt is dependant on the Vortec Masx package and not the cab configuration.

I went from a 1991 3/4 ton 7.4. I loved the 91 and it was a workhorse.
But the CCSB Vortec Max makes me grin from ear to ear, power, comfort, rides like a Caddy, etc.
I do miss the long bed some, but I have a utility trailer, that gets a lot more use now. I don't mind hooking up the trailer, because if the trailer gets scratched or dented I don't care, keeps my truck looking nice longer.

to this:
i wish i could say i miss it . but i dont. i carry stuff from time to time. but that short bed can carry the right amount of stuff. when we evacuated i had it full. and then me and and the family were comfortable in the cab so.. i say go for the CC. all chevy trucks look cool. but my CC is just the right truck for me. i would change a thing

I know this sounds bad but I miss my 6.5 foot bed and found out ford has a 150 crew cab with a 6.5 foot bed now (like a 1500HD). Definatly something to look at if you want a 6.5 foot bed (+ you get a 35 gal fuel tank).
