It goes just fine, this SBC seems to have more torque to it than the BBC I built a few years back. It's amazing what the right parts working together will acomplish.

Just having the instantanous reaction to my left foot was well worth the F.I to carb swap.

I know alot of you guys are pro-F.I. And I am too, under the right cercumstances it's perfect. For reliable starting, no stress driving, consistant & dependable transportation it's great... just perfect for grandma to go the market.

But in the performance world the $$ amount spent per HP increase just doesn't add up.

Tally up every dollar you've got in your truck in the name of performance & speed and tell me how much you've spent.

Seriously... I've got maybe $3,500-$4,000 for the entire engine build & swap including the intake, carb, dist, headers, crank & rods, pistons, valvetrain, machine work, stall converter and the tuning software for the PCM .

For a gearhead who has the need to wrench and is thankful to be working at $10/hr (at a time like this) selling auto parts. The total cost invloved is more important than the "wow" factor. Sure a sick *** twin turbo LQ9 with a FAST intake & 90mm TB with a 400hp direct port progressive nitrous would look sick under the hood of a modified GMT800 RCSB. But in my world, a world where I'm living paycheck to paycheck and I'm just barely able to set a couple hundred bucks aside each month to go play with, that just isn't realistic.

I like it. Now I would be wondering WTF if you had the inclination to put a SBF in your truck. Way to be original in the sea of FAST manifolds, 408 strokers, and Magnachargers. Nothing agaist them just saying there are alot of them out there.

however to each his own and your definitely a pioneer but I couldnt ever bring myself to put an old school motor in anything bigger than an old S-10 project, just me. but make some kick *** numbers and kick some *** with it!

true, its unique and cool for sure.

and for the record Im running and F.I. 6.0 that I rebuilt myself, total cost including trans and machine work for the old block plus tuning is ~$2,000.

I hear you on the paycheck to paycheck, haha it really blows. Especially when you BUST your *** everyday to make $12.75/hr. But nice to see it runs and trouble free, I wanna see a track time!

Mykk,
You should really consider a well built Q-Jet. It will be MUCH more responsive than the current carb and the Q-Jet can flow up to 750-800 cfm. They only have one float to set and are very simple and rugged. They can support well over 450 hp.
