Default Buddie's truck didn't start...

My friend who lives in Mass has an 04 Chevy HD 2500...6.0 I believe. Just over 36k, just out of warranty. Anyway, the other day he did some errands, stop and go, and later when he went out to start his truck, nothing happened. The truck didn't even put a draw on the battery, (The battery is OK from what he tells me). He tried swapping the starter relay and still nothing. His step son tried whacking the starter and still nothing. Went out the next day and tried again, and it was fine, started right up. I mentioned to him that possibly the ignition switch is on it's way out, and he was thinking the same thing. I'm just wondering if there's anything common to these trucks that causes those symptoms that anyone's aware of.

Thanks in advance

-Billy
