money might be a factor, but if it wasnt, then what 20'' tires would you go with. i'd really like to get away from the GT2's i have. also include sizes.

Depending on the size you are looking for my choices would be:
Goodyear F1 Supercar (245/35-20 only...27" tall, only good for a frame dragger-height truck)
Nitto NT420s (265/50-20's or 255/45-20's)
General Grabber UHP's (275/55-20 or 295/45-20)
BFGoodrich TA-KDW's (295/45-20's or 295/40-20's)

Those 20's you guys are posting are of a too low of a profile. The lowest profile I would go with with your truck Dave, would be a 50. 285/50/20.
I work with tires on the weekends. I've been doing it for 3 years now.
That will be the size I go with next.
The brand however will be the Goodyear Forterra w/ Silent Armor.
They are an excelent tire, that even come with a 70,000mi warranty. Those other tires cannot compare to the mileage warranty of them.
The 285/50/20 is a new size for them. I'm glad they made it.
If you need me to make you a deal on some tires, come see me or PM me.
I don't deal too much with Nitto's, but I can get them still if you really want them.
I carry all of the major brands and some private label tires as well.

I didn't offer up my choice with a warrenty in mind so much as sheer performance.I think the BFG's are a better tire but thats all IMO.
On the size i recommended i say that size because it keeps the truck at a stock overall wheel height. To hell with making my gears smaller and then end up doin a gear swap to make it normal again...Again this is IMO.

Unless you changed them already.

The problem is in the question. Best tire for what? Summer Performance? Traction? All-Season abilities? Mileage and durability?
You have to say what you want to use the tire for. Reason being, for example, performance and mileage are at odds with each other. The stickier the compound, the softer the tire, and the sooner they wear out. If you want all-out performance, you will get 10,000 miles out of a set of tires. If you want 60,000 miles out of a set of tires, you will be leaving a lot of performance on the table. If you want performance and durability both, you will have to make compromises on each characteristic.
What do you want from a tire?

The GY Forterra's 285/50/20 ($195.00ea) overall diameter is: 31.3"/ tread wear rating 620 A A/ 48lbs ea/ H speed rating/ and offers a 70,000mi treadwear warranty.
GY Eagle GT II 285/50/20 ($135.00ea) overall diameter: 31.2"/ tread wear rating: 420 A A/ 39lbs ea/ H speed rating/ No mileage warranty on tread wear. Only manufacturer defect warranty.
The BFG g-force T/A KDW 295/40/20 ($290.00ea) have a rolling diameter of: 29.5"/ tread wear rating: 300 AA(excelent traction) A/ 37lbs ea/ Y (high speed rating)/ No mileage warranty, only manu defect warranty. These tires get excelent traction but the trade off is short tread life and expensive.
BFG g-force T/A KDW 2 295/45/20 ($240.00ea) rollin dia of: 30.5"/ tread wear rating: 300 AA A/ 41lbs ea/ V speed rating/ No mileage warranty only manufacturer defect warranty. Short tread life and expensive.
The 285/50/20's will be quite a bit closer to the O.E. rolling diameter.
The KDW's will have a better performance factor, but for the money spent on them, they don't last that long. You might get 20,000mi out of them if your lucky.
Just really depends on what he's looking for exactly.
Dave, be more specific on what you want out of a tire. If you want the BFg's, then I can get you those as well.
*Note* The lower the treadwear number the shorter the tread life. The letters following it are the traction and temperature rating. Example AA= excelent traction A= great traction and the second letter is the temperature the tire works well in. A= works well in all temps B= performs good in most temps.

I would stick with either a 285/50/20 or if you want a tad wider a 295/45/20.
Kumho ECSTA STX makes a nice tire that gives both mileage and performance. The 285/50/20 ($130.00ea) has a 31.3" rolling diameter and the 295/45/20 ($145.00ea) has a 30.4" rol dia. Both tire sizes have a 420 AA tread wear rating and weigh 43lbs a tire.
Both tires have a V speed rating. Though there is no mileage warranty only a manufacturer warranty.
