I just helped my father out with his bed when we replaced his fuel pump this last weekend. We lifted it off and put it back on ourselves just the two of us. It was kind of a bitch, I'm not gonna lie. The cherry picker idea is pure genius. If you can do that, by all means go for it.

you don't need to pull you bed to to install the DJM nothches. So don't waste your time, the bed will also help the frame stay straight when you cut out the section in the frame. However put jackstand on the frame under the cab and back near the bumper so not ALL the weight is on one side. Put more of the weight in front of the notch and the the support the rear.

Leave the bed on, and do ONE side at a time. Mark, drill holes in each corner, watch for lines and wires behind frame, cut, install notch, repeat on opposite side.

Well you were right, I didn't pull the bed. A couple days ago I pulled off a rear wheel and then discovered how easily the plastic inner wheel well comes out. After it was out, I saw that I had about all the access I needed to get in and cut the frame for the notches. I used a cutoff wheel, jigsaw and good old hacksaw to get to all the cutting and got done in about four hours or so.
Took it for a ride and, WOW! No more spine crushing over the potholes!
I shoulda done this a while back. Thanks again for all the help guys!
I appreciate it very much.

Right in front of the rear bumper on the left hand side of the licence plate. You can stick your hand under there and feel them.
