I don't know if anyone else here has had a sonoma or s10 but I had a 98 regular cab and I don't see how anyone could fit 4 people in one because me and 2 other guys rode to work in it and I finally traded for my Silverado because I was tired of riding to work all cramped up. All the 4.3 sonoma's I have ever see were lucky to get any better gas mileage than my 5.3 Silverado which gets around 18 mpg pulling nothing. So I will have to call on all of that.

Terry, the time spent on the flatbed wrecker on the way doesn't count for your mpg. We like big trucks so we can roll over lil bitty Sonomas that are going too slow in front of us.

Terry Burger,
This is all in fun... Actually I did not make it to the race. I was impressed by the way you did
at the track. That is a very long haul to make with any vehicle. I am glad you made it without any trouble. This is all in fun...We will see you guys at the next race I hope....Best of luck to all you guys.....

Torque is pretty good too. If you think about it 4.3L isn't much smaller than 4.8/5.0 size engines.

This is hilarious! I used to have a 2000 Sonoma, reg cab, long bed, 6400# towing cap with a weight distributing hitch, and I have to say that truck put down some power for a V6. FYI 2000 Model Year was 180hp and 245 lb ft or torque. Put that to a 3.42 open axle. Tire smoker from hell it was 2 wheel drive though and sucked in snow bc of the open rear but I've pulled people out of ditches with it and such. Never got to tow with it but I have hauled some heavy payload for about 500 miles a number of times and what I found out with that truck is that the more you haul, the better the MPG gets, that's no bs.
Terry, if you're pulling 20 MPG city/highway mix thats great, I never really got more than about 17 avg, but with a heavy load I got 21-22 highway (1000lb). Figure that out.
I liked that truck though, it was versatile yet tough enough to get the job done.
Once again, this is a hilarious post.

I think its putting out around 200hp 255 lb ft. I got mine with 3.42s also, and its a regular cab which is ~150# lighter than the ext-cab models.
