Default airbags

Does anyone kno how much an airbag would coast new from a dealer drivers side? because in NY you are not aloud to use used airbags when going for an inspection because somehow the dealer puts ur vin on the airbag and when u get it inspected if the airbag doesnt match up u get rejected and they take your airbag. thanks in advanced

p.s. its a 2002

So dealers would have to custom make each replacement airbag with the vin on them?

Doubtful

no its true they either take the number of the airbag and place it with the vin so when they inspect it they look it up in the computer or when u call the dealer and give them ur vin number they send you a new airbag wiht the orignial airbag number that was on the blown one i dont kno how but they kno because if u go there to motor vehicles they have a pile of airbags that were takin out of trucks and cars cause we had to last year wiht our jimmy and its a 98 and the airbag was 500 fromt he dealer and the dealer also gives u a reciet soo maybe its just that
