I would go x baox all the way. I have a x box and wouldnt trade it for anything. Besides it's made in america. Not Japan. By the time we get something from Japan it's been out for a year or so. See the PS2 people have top buy a whole new system. Xbox upgrades are ooption that can be bought separatly so you can build your system. Also I think the graphics are a ton better on the xbox and the remote for the dvd is great. Whatever PS# comes out in options I gaurantee that xbox will have the same and probably be better.

MAC - I assume you have a larger drive in the X. Does the X just boot normally or to a loader so you can run your images? Or do you have to to run another disc, connect via ethernet to your PC, just to run your images on the X's hard drive?

I'll buy a modchip today if I don't have to worry about always having it connected to the PC. I'd like to play the game images off the drive without a funny boot procedure. Any more info?

Good choice in getting an Xbox. You definitely need to get Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic, I do not even like star wars but this game has to be on of the best games I have ever played. Oh yeah The grand Theft Auto Collection is pretty cool.

BigTex, a friend of mine had that mod done. I think he sent his xbox off to get done and reflashed or something. I know it took about 2 weeks and 50 bucks. He turns his on, it comes up to a screen and has a menu that gives you the options to boot normally (start the disc in the drive) or to load an image. He had a 120 gig hdd installed in it too. There is something wierd about the partitions on the hdd I think. I would have to look into all that again.

HitMan ... GTA3 and GTA: Vice City is out on Xbox. It's a double pack, kinda like buy one get the other for free. I got it when it was on pre-order and have had it for a while! Here .. I'll even make it easy for ya! http://www.buy.com/retail/product.as...Type=game&sp=1

Yea Ive done about 5 boxs now... (only friends ofcourse ) but I have put Xecuter2.3 lite chips in them all with 120g hdds, and evox dashboards. As far as loading, my chip has a front panal switch so you can boot the xbox with the chip either on or off.

If you wanted to you could put you images on a CDRW or DVDR and the xbox would be able to read it from there. Otherwise its just easier to connect through your ethernet. And the images I was talkn about being streamed was meaning the images stay on the PC but are streamed through the ethernet and viewed on the xbox. I can do the same with DVD's I have backedup on my PC, I can watch them on my tv through the xbox.

If you had the images on the harddrive already you wouldnet need anything external to view them.

Thats why I'm asking. I already have several game images, and will buy the X and a chip if its easy to do. I have extra drives and a DVD burner, so thats no issue. I just want to be able to either throw a burned disk in and play, or boot it up and play a stored game from the drive.

Is the Xecuter the way to go, or is there a better one on the market now?

If you wait a couple months you can get the new SmartChip thats coming out its a Gen5 chip I think. Basically top notch. Otherwise just get the xecuter 2.3liteB (plus model if you want the solderless). They are gonna be hard to find right now because they are backordered almost everywhere.

I usually pick up 10 chips at a time and I need some more soon, im not sure how soon you need it but maybe you should pm me in a week or so if you dont find anything.
