if you have any mechanical knowledge and confidence in your skills, do it yourself... its VERY simple. I did my ext cab in 7 hours from pulling it in the shop to startup with the new cam... Its not a bad job... and I took SEVRAL breaks and took my time on this one.

I might is there any really good write ups on doing it on a truck? I work at a dealership and have access to tools. I would need a good write up though.

This one is for an F body but the steps are the same minus some of the tear-down... you dont have to take nearly as much **** off a truck to do it as you do a car.

and/or, search around on here... a few people have done write-ups if I recall..

I used that write up for my cam swap it was perfect and easy to do.

What does a cam install with springs and pushrods cost usually?

I've been running my 212 218 for a while now untuned, drives fine. On an old W4M tune too. Can't wait to get to the dyno and get a real tune...

Probably close to the cost of your cam, springs, and push rods.
