Hey guys, if I turn my AC on the blower fan blows fine but the ac clutch doesnt engage. I can force the clutch through hptuners and it works great (nice and cold), but the buttons on the dash wont turn it on. Any suggestions?

 

I'm guessing that your refrigerant charge is too low. See if any of your buddies has a set of R-134a gauges.

 

Heres the thing, it worked before today, even though it cycled very often (figured it was low). Today I added a can to it and its showing 30-35 on the low side which should be enough....another can maybe?

 

I'm not familiar with using the cans, I'm used to the refrigerant recycling machines.

 

it says 1 can is 19oz, i believe it sucks it in through the low side to add to the system

 

I've had a similar problem before. I disconnected the negative battery cable for about 30 seconds or so and the A/C clutch started working again. Worth a shot I guess.

 

Interesting, i just replaced the battery...

 

one thing that you can try is to vent the pressure (sounds stupid i know) from the system on the low side. slowly vent the system until a small amount of fluid comes out and then charge. that's what i had to do to mine. (i was using a professional system btw)

 

Check the low side pressure switch on the Receiver/Dryer. It has 2 wires, you can jump it with a paperclip. Should make the compressor come on. Sometimes the connection is bad. You can also try tapping on it lightly with the engine running and compressor commanded on. If it cycles on this is your problem. Very common.
