Default Abs light on

Right my abs light is on and some nice person from the past had put black tape over the bulb so you couldnt see it but this week i noticed it looked like it was on but wasnt so i took the cluster out to find tape over the bulb

now as i dont know how long its been like this and as im from the uk im finding it stupidly hard to find some one with a code reader that can read the codes .

so if i replaced parts that are the most common would the light go out if it fixed the problem ? if it would could some one please let me know what parts would be best to replace .

theres no buzzin sound from the abs unit it self so i think thats ok .

be greatfull for any help . thanks

With out a code it could be any thing from a wheel sensor to the actual ABS computer on the ABS module. It could even be a problem with the cluster. It would be cheaper to by a Code reader that is capable of reading ABS codes, then trowing $1000 in parts at it hoping to fix an issue. Other wise find a local Garage and pay them to read the code.

I had the same problem with my '00 Silvy. Originally from AZ now in MD. I researched it and I found a cheap easy solution that worked. Took 15 minutes.

There a "ground junction" of black ground wires in the frame on the outside under the driver's door. This is where the ABS gets its ground. I took it apart, cleaned all the terminal ends, rethreaded the bolt hole, cleaned the bolt and reassembled with di-grease, problem solved. Haven't seen the ABS light since.

I'd try this first. It worked for me.
